The best

God found me twice.

The first time, I was a teenager who had no idea why she existed. The second time, I was a young woman who thought she finally knew—until her fiancé died.

God met me in my darkest days.

With thoughts that were impossible to silence. Without the strength to keep living. With questions instead of words. I no longer fit into a world that stubbornly kept moving forward. I was a mess. I was despair. Nothing mattered anymore. I was angry. There was nothing left to wait for.

The first time He came to me, I was thirteen.

He found me somewhere between the absence of purpose, gloomy poems, an emptiness I tried to fill with passions, fears, and a deep inability to love myself. Lost. Unhappy. Living in a home where Dad made sandwiches for school every morning and Mum prepared hot cocoa for breakfast.

Do you know why you’re here? Are you truly well? Do you know what it’s like to fear tomorrow?

The first person to tell me about Him was my older brother. He told me about Jesus—a Friend you could actually talk to. Someone who is always near. Someone who answers.

That day, I believed Him.

I believed that His death and resurrection were not only about salvation and being with Him after death. I believed He died and rose again so that we could know Him now. So that we could live in relationship with Him today.

And suddenly, I wanted only Him.

In a single moment, my sense of purpose returned. The hopelessness I had carried every day simply disappeared. That emptiness inside me had never been the absence of achievement. It had been a place meant for Him.

The second time He came, I was twenty-six.

My fiancé had died two years earlier. His death woke me from the Christian fairy tale I had eventually come to believe myself.

He found me carrying a grief that still tore my heart apart. With no future I could imagine. No plan. Questions about His goodness. Questions about Christianity that no one but me could answer.

Has anything ever shattered your heart? Has something happened that you still cannot understand? Something no human strength is enough to carry?

The second time, He came to me on His own.

I was sitting in the apartment I had moved into only a month before. I remember having just one thought: Is this where I’ll spend the rest of my life? Without hope? Without purpose?

A moment later, I felt words begin to flow from deep within me—praying in other tongues. It was a prayer I did not understand myself, yet one inspired by the Holy Spirit.

I let the words come.

Soon afterward, hope appeared in my heart.

A glimpse.

Life was returning.

And for the first time in two and a half years, I heard God speak again.

He spoke to me about a good future.

Suddenly, the darkness around me disappeared, replaced by an open horizon.

And it has remained that way ever since.

Coming to Him became light and effortless. No resolutions. No carefully scheduled quiet times. I would open the Bible, and almost every verse became a fresh revelation. I was in love. I was happy. Life stretched out before me again.

But this time, He alone was enough.

I don’t know where you are in your life today, but I know that something you’ve just read stirred something within you.

Maybe because you’ve lived through something similar.

Maybe because it reminded you of someone.

Maybe because it awakened a memory.

Or perhaps simply because the very idea of God stirs resistance in you.

Every one of those responses is okay.

You can do nothing with it.

Or…

You can call out to Him.

The most beautiful thing about coming to God is that once you truly meet Him, you cannot deny what has happened.

Following Jesus is not choosing a worldview or adopting a new set of rules to live by.

Meeting Jesus is encountering the God who loves you.

And after that, you no longer want anything else but Him.

What for?

To live a happy life.

Not a life without problems—but a truly happy one.

Because you are close to God.

Righteous.

Whole and with purpose, regardless of what happens around you.

And so that after death, you may be with Him forever.

Jesus Christ died for me, and He died for you.

He loves every person.

He longs for every heart.

But simply knowing that is not enough to be saved.

You must answer Him.

Receive Him as your Lord and Savior.

And after that, you no longer want anything else but Him.
